Precision in Every Test

Specialty Test Equipment is dedicated to helping researchers push the boundaries of their work by providing the custom testing tools they need—but often can’t find anywhere else. We understand how difficult it can be to get specialized equipment designed and built, especially when the requirements are technically complex or highly unique to a research project. Because we’ve been in your position—through graduate school, laboratory work, and hands-on materials testing—we know exactly what it takes to turn a research need into a functional, reliable piece of equipment. At Specialty Test Equipment, we bridge the gap between concept and fabrication, delivering precise, purpose-built test systems that empower researchers to focus on discovery rather than troubleshooting hardware.

About Clinton Switzer

Before ever stepping into a university lab, I started my career turning wrenches as an automotive mechanic—an experience that taught me how machines behave in the real world and how to diagnose, repair, and build with a hands-on, practical mindset. That foundation carried me through my engineering education at Oklahoma State University, where I earned my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering followed by an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering.

During my studies, I interned at NASA’s Glenn Research Center, gaining exposure to advanced materials, aerospace research, and the importance of precision in experimental design. In graduate school, I quickly became the go-to person for my fellow researchers who needed custom fixtures or specialized hardware for their experiments. I enjoyed helping others bring their test ideas to life, and my background in fixing and building things became an invaluable asset in the lab—especially when off-the-shelf equipment didn’t exist or didn’t quite fit the need.

Today, those same skills guide my work at Switzer Engineering & Fabrication and Specialty Test Equipment, where I design and build custom tools, fixtures, and testing systems for researchers, engineers, and businesses. By combining practical mechanical experience, advanced materials expertise, and full in-shop fabrication capabilities, I create solutions that help others push their projects forward with confidence and precision.
